Posted on Monday, February 25, 2013 12:09am

A Ventura man is behind bars, after police say he tried to grab an officer’s gun out of his holster.

Ventura Police were called to the 6300 block of Ventura Boulevard just before six Saturday night, by reports of a man behaving suspiciously. Officers arriving on the scene say when they tried to talk to Michael Hernandez, he started running. They caught him a short distance away, but when he continued to struggle, they say they used a taser on him. The officers say it had no impact, and that the 32 year old man tried to pull a pistol out of the holster of one of the officers. They say he was final subdued after an officer hit him with a baton.

Hernandez wasn’t seriously injured. One officer suffered minor injuries in the scuffle.

The Ventura man is being charged with resisting a police officer, attempting to remove an officer’s firearm, as well as being arrested for an outstanding warrant.
