Ventura County’s three community colleges have received some big news.
Moorpark, Oxnard, and Ventura Colleges have all been taken off probation.
The three campuses were penalized a year ago by the Accrediting Commission For Community And Junior Colleges, after the commission found that a trustee had improperly interfered in college operations, and that the Board of Trustees failed to deal with the issues.
The trustees have undergone training during the last year so they would better understand their responsibilities and limits.
The colleges never lost their accreditation, but the probation was considered to be a severe warning.
College officials received letters yesterday officially notifying them that because of the progress in dealing with the concerns noted by the commission, they were officially off probation.
