The search for a former LAPD officer blamed for killing three people, including a former Ventura County couple is focused on an eight square mile of rugged mountains near Big Bear.
Authorities think Christopher Jordan Dorner shot to death Keith Lawrence and Monica Quan at their Irvine apartment complex Sunday night.
They think Dorner killed the couple as revenge for Quan’s father’s involvement in his firing from the LAPD in 2008.
He’s also blamed for shooting two Riverside police officers, killing one of them, and wounding an LAPD officer.
Hundreds of law enforcement officers are searching as many as 200 vacant cabins in the Big Bear area, because they think it’s possible the former cop, and member of the military might be hiding in one of them.
Complicating the situation is the snow that’s been falling in the mountains, which grounded search helicopters, and is obscuring possible tracks.
