Just Released Statistics Show Crime Increase In City Of Ventura For 2012

Posted on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 12:43am

Violent crime was down, but property crimes were up last year in one South Coast community.

Just released 2012 crime statistics for the City of Ventura show a 5% decrease in violent crimes.

There was a 17% spike in property crimes, including a 45% increase in auto thefts, and a 21% increase in residential burglaries.

Ventura Police officials say the crime increases in the city, and also in many other communities around the state parallel the reduction in resources available to law enforcement agencies in California in the last year.
