The governor of Texas is planning to visit one of Ventura County’s largest employers, to try to get its owners to move their operations to the Lone Star state.
Texas Governor Rick Perry has scheduled a visit next week to Oxnard-based Haas Automation.
The company has about 1500 employees, and was considering expansion.
But, it put those plans on hold because of concerns about taxes, and fees.
The 30 year old company is one of the world’s largest machine tool makers.
Texas has also tried to lure away Carpinteria based CKE, the parent company of Carl’s Junior and Hardee’s. CKE has been noncommittal about a possible move, but the lease on its headquarters building expires in 2015.
