They’re small, spotted cats found through most of North America. In Southern California, they’re sometimes mistaken for mountain lions.
Experts say there are hundreds of bobcats in the Santa Monica Mountains-Eastern Ventura County corridor alone.
Researchers who’ve been trying to learn more about the relatively common, yet still mysterious cats say they’ve just caught their 300th bobcat as part of a two decade old research study.
