A Ventura woman has been sentenced to six year prison for embezzling more than $800,000 for a local non-profit agency.
Prosecutors say Ronda Ann Garcia stole money during a six year period from Khepera House, which is a substance abuse recovery agency in Ventura. They say while working as the organization’s office manager, she wrote unauthorized checks using the non-profit’s bank account for her own personal expenses.
The 43 year old woman entered guilty pleas to grand theft, forgery, and filing false income tax return charges. In addition to the six year sentence, the Ventura woman has been ordered to pay more than $1.2 million dollars in restitution.
