A woman has been seriously injured by a fire in a Ventura County motel room.
The blaze was discovered just after 10 this morning, at a Best Western Inn on the 1700 block of Madera Road, in Simi Valley.
The Ventura County Fire Department’s Captain Mike Lindberry says the woman had burns over about 50% of her body. She isn’t being identified by authorities.
The motel’s sprinkler system kept the fire from spreading, and firefighters were quickly able to knock down the blaze. The second floor room suffered fire and water damage, while the room underneath it had some water damage.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
