A 30 foot long boat authorities suspect was used by smugglers was found early this morning on a Santa Barbara County beach.
The panga boat was spotted at about 5 a.m., on the west end of Goleta Beach. No one was found with the boat, but there were empty gas cans and water bottles.
Boats of this type have been used frequently during the last year to smuggle drugs, and people into the United States from Mexico. Federal agencies have beefed up detection efforts along the coastline to try to stem the smuggling operations.
