Santa Barbara County Supervisors decided to override a local planning agency, and will allow a series of new cell phone antennas to be installed in the Montecito area.
The Montecito Planning Commission had rejected the proposal from a company called Crown Castle, citing impacts on the areas aesthetics.
The company appealed the decision to County Supervisors. But, supervisors felt the impacts would be minimal, with cell equipment already in place at 10 of the 11 locations in question.
Only one new utility pole would be needed at one site.
The new cell equipment is being installed to try to boost the quality of service for T Mobile customers.
