Authorities are looking for a hit and run driver who struck, and killed a pedestrian on the 101 Freeway in Santa Barbara early this morning.
The CHP received a call just after 1 a.m. that there was someone staggering on the southbound 101 near the Castillo Street offramp. Santa Barbara Police looking for the person found a man who had been struck by a vehicle, and was dead at the scene. The southbound freeway was closed for more than two hours, and traffic rerouted onto surface streets while evidence was collected.
Investigators determined that the man had been hit by a white Hyundai which fled the scene. The CHP is looking for the driver of the vehicle. They think the car has damage on its left front, and side. It’s unclear as to why the man was on the freeway. His name hasn’t been released, pending notification of family members.
