Motorcyclist Shot, Killed By CHP Officer Following Pursuit In Ventura County

Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of a Ventura man by a CHP officer, following a pursuit on the Rincon.

It started just after 2 p.m. Saturday, when an officer tried to stop a speeding motorcycle which was southbound on the Pacific Coast Highway, in the Faria Beach area.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, which is handling the investigation, says the motorcycle tried to speed away, but crashed on nearby Padre Juan Canyon Road.

Investigators aren’t releasing the details of what they think happened next.

The Sheriff’s Department says the motorcyclist was shot, and killed by the officer.
The motorcyclist was a 58 year old man. His name hasn’t been released yet.
