A Ventura County man entered no contest pleas to charges that he intentionally set one of his family’s dogs on fire, fatally injuring the basset hound.

Andrew Delgado was accused of the October 27th attack in a ravine in the Camarillo Heights area. Someone had poured lighter fluid on the three year old dog, and set it on fire.

A nearby resident saw a fire burning, and called the Ventura County Fire Department, but they were unable to save the dog.

Word of the incident sparked national outrage.

The 18 year old is facing one count of animal cruelty, and one count of arson on a property.

He’s scheduled to be sentenced February 13th.
