Two Congressional Members Representing Central, South Coasts Take Oath Of Office

Members of two redefined congressional districts serving Ventura, and Santa Barbara Counties were among those officially take the oath of office for the new Congress.

Lois Capps was sworn in yesterday as California’s 24th District Congresswoman, representing all of San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara Counties, as well as part of Ventura County. The Santa Barbara based Democrat been a congresswoman in the region since 2008.

And, former State Assemblywoman Julia Brownley took the oath of office for Ventura County’s new 26th District Congressional seat. It’s a big step up for the Oak Park based Democrat, who just completed her third term as a state legislator.

Both congressional districts were created as a part of redistricting based on the 2010 census.
