A man Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies are calling a suspected drug deal is in custody, following a wild chase in Goleta.
It happened just before 1 p.m. today, on Highway 217, which connects UC Santa Barbara with the 101 Freeway.
The CHP, and Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a wrong way driver on the highway.
When he saw officers, the driver got out of his vehicle and tried to flee into a nearby lagoon, but was caught with the help of a helicopter unit, and a K-9.
Deputies identified the man as Binisio Pereda, of Lompoc.
