Ventura County Sheriff’s Detectives say a seven month long investigation into the death of a newborn baby found in a Camarillo strawberry field led to the arrest of the infant’s mother.
Investigators say the baby was found in a field off of Central Avenue May 21st. At the time, detectives took DNA samples from m ore than 100 field workers, and interviewed numerous potential witnesses.
They say the information led them to Rosalba Cruz Moran. They obtained a search warrant to get a DNA sample from the Oxnard woman, who already happened to be in custody on an unrelated charge. They say the test confirmed the 20 year old woman was the mother of the deceased baby, and that significant other evidence linked her to the death.
She’s being held on a murder charge, with bail set at one million dollars.
