Some kite surfers discovered the strong wind off the Ventura County coastline was more than they could handle this afternoon.

Ventura County firefighters, and other public safety workers were called to help three kite surfers who got in trouble near Surfer’s Point, in the Ventura area at around 2 p.m.

County fire officials say rescue teams aided by a helicopter helped two of them get to shore safely, while the third one made it to shore on their own.

There’s a high surf advisory in effect off our coastline until 4 a.m. Wednesday, with 10 to 14 foot high waves possible, as well as strong rip currents
