Posted on Thursday, December 13, 2012 9:29am

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department officials say they’ve arrested a Carpinteria high school teacher on molestation charges.

Michael George Carey was taken into custody yesterday afternoon at Rincon High School, the continuation school in Carpinteria where he teaches.

Sheriff’s Department officials say the 41 year old Carpinteria resident was arrested for felony child battery, and misdemeanor child molestation, after an investigation sparked by allegations he inappropriately touched a female student.

He’s been placed on paid administrative leave by the Carpinteria School District, pending the results of the charges against him.
