Ventura County Man Gets 75 Years To Life Sentence For Fatal Drug Related Shooting

A Ventura County man will in effect spend the rest of his life behind bars, after receiving a 75 years to life sentence for the killing of one man, and the attempted murder of a second.

Prosecutors say Brian Starks planned the robbery of two men who wanted to buy a large quantity of cocaine.

Michael Wade was shot to death, and Kenneth Pecaro wounded in the November, 2009 incident which ended up out of control.

Starks has a long criminal history, prompting a judge to deny a defense attempt to have the sentenced reduced from a three strikes conviction.

Two other men involved in the robbery attempt had already received sentences of more than 10 years each.
