A controversial proposal for an affordable housing complex in Ventura has received final approval.
The Ventura City Council gave the go-ahead to plans by the non-profit Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation to build a 50 unit complex at Wells Road, and Darling Road.
Some area residents objected to the project, citing concerns about issues like parking, and density. Supporters contended the concerns had been adequately addressed, and that the affordable units are badly needed.
After a lengthy public hearing, and review which stretched over two meetings, the City Council voted 6-1 last night to clear the way for the project.
