A deal to provide HMO services for thousands of Ventura County residents is now on hold.
A state agency ordered Gold Coast Health Plan, which serves the county’s 100,000 Medi-Cal recipients, to first finish getting its financial house in order.
Gold Coast has been negotiating with a new HMO, called AmericasHealth Plan, to manage care for a chunk of the Medi-Cal recipients.
But, the State Department of Health services says Gold Coast needs to deal with a number of serious financial, and operation issues before it will allow the deal to proceed.
Gold Coast officials say they have been moving to address the concerns.
