Ventura County Man Man Sentenced To Life In Prison Without Possibility Of Parole For Stabbing To Death Boy, Injuring Two Others

Posted on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 5:47pm

A man who stabbed to death a Ventura County boy, and seriously injured the boy’s mother, and a neighbor will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Calvin Sharp was sentenced to life in prison, without the possibility of parole today for the August, 2007 attacks in Newbury Park.

Sev’n Molina was stabbed to death with a meat cleaver in the rampage. The boy’s mother, Sandra Ruiz, was seriously injured, as was neighbor Diane Cox.

Prosecutors say Sharp had dated Ruiz, and was upset that she had ended it and was dating someone else.

He had pled guilty to a first degree murder charge, two attempted murder charges, and other counts, but contended he was insane.

After a sanity trial, a judge rejected the defense arguments, and ruled Sharp was legally sane.
