A Ventura County man is facing 16 years, to life in prison after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter, and other charges in connection with the killing of his girlfriend.
Jose Escobar Monterrozo killed Claudia Minjivar in January at the couple’s home in Simi Valley. Prosecutors say the 36 year old man beat her with a vehicle’s steering wheel lock. He was angry over a relationship she was reportedly having with a former boyfriend.
Monterrozo also entered guilty pleas to child abuse, and burglary charges related to the incident.
