It’s not going to be the latest blockbuster, but the sounds of church services which are going to sound throughout a vacant Ventura County theater complex.

Mission Church says it’s reached an agreement with Century Theaters owner Cinemark to lease the Century 16 complex in Ventura.

The theater facility just off the 101 Freeway at Johnson Drive in Ventura was closed this fall, when the chain opened a new theater complex just south of it, at the Riverpark shopping center in Oxnard.

The year old church is offering two services a day on Sundays, and is planning to use the Elba Street space for other events. The church is sub-leasing the complex from the theater chain, which has a four year master lease for the property.
