This week marks the little known anniversary of a devastating fire which wiped out the core of a Ventura County community.
The December, 1903 fire destroyed most of Santa Paula’s downtown business district.
It was fueled by Santa Ana winds, which pushed the flames from building to building.
A Ventura County Fire department official says that fire is more than history. He says itt highlights the potential for massive brushfires even during this time of year, when people assume the danger is low.
