A crackdown on unlicensed contractors in one Ventura County community led to 12 arrests.
Agents from the State Contractors State License Board, and Ventura County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Enforcement Detail set up a two day long sting operation at a Camarillo business, posing as potential customers. 12 of the 17 contractors who arrived to provide bids were unlicensed. They were arrested, cited, and released. A 13th was cited for operating with an expired license.
State law requires contractors to be licensed, as a means of providing customers with assurances that work is being provided by a legitimate business, and also providing some recourse should there be problems with the project.
