A former Santa Barbara County man has been arrested following what police are calling an intentional hit and run incident which left another person seriously injured.
Santa Barbara Police detectives say on September 13th, Avery Anthony Morris Junior was at a party on the 500 block of West Gutierrez Street, but was kicked out after offending the host. People at the party say the 29-year-old man at first left, but then came back, and claimed he had a gun, and was going to kill people. Investigators say he then sped away a second time, circling the block, and then hitting a man standing in the street, despite the victim’s efforts to move. Witnesses say the driver targeted the 27 year old victim, who was seriously injured, but survived.
Investigators tracked down the Montecito resident in Pasadena, where they say he had apparently fled. Pasadena Police arrested him for attempted murder, and Santa Barbara Police say they may seek additional charges because of claims Morris made that he was a member of a Los Angeles street gang.
