Posted on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 12:44am

A South Coast bank celebrated a decade of community grants to local non-profits by handing out a million dollars yesterday to some 180 groups in Santa Barbara, and Ventura Counties.

Montecito Bank and Trust has now distributed $10 million dollars over ten years to local groups. The groups receiving money this year included groups like the Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation, Hospice of the Conejo, the State Street Ballet, Ventura County’s FOOD Share, and Santa Barbara’s Unity Shoppe.

Montecito Bank and Trust Chairman Michael Towbes created the Community Dividends Awards in 2003 as a way of supporting groups which help low income residents of the region, as well as supporting education, and the arts.
