Ventura County Supervisors are set to decide the fate of a controversial proposal to build, and open a paintball park near Moorpark.
The Ventura County Planning Commission already approved a Conditional Use Permit for the facility on nearly eight acres of land on the 8600 block of Shekell Road. The plans call for the removal of more than 350,000 square feet of concrete, and paving for dirt fields, parking, and artificial turf.
The facility would be limited to 104 days of use a year, with no more than 250 participants a day.
Planning officials say the use fits with the area. But, some neighbors contend it’s incompatible, it would negatively affect nearby agricultural operations, it would create dust, and traffic problems, and surrounding property values would drop. The opponents filed an appeal of the permit which County Supervisors will consider tomorrow.
