Ventura and Santa Barbara County food banks are seeing record demand for help, as we move into the holidays, which is the time when they traditionally get the most support from the community.
This is National Hunger Awareness, and Action Week, and in Ventura County, the region’s largest food banks teamed up with a school to try to create a program which can be used as a model for educational programs on this issue.
The effort included giving kids a taste of how hunger can affect them, as well as hearing from some who experienced it.
KCLU’s Lance Orozco has the story, from Westlake Village.
