Woman Convicted Of Massive Mortgage Fraud In Ventura County

Posted on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 12:43am

A Los Angeles County woman has been convicted of 14 felony counts, after Ventura County prosecutors say she stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from people who thought she was helping them with their mortgages.

Laura Carlson ran a business called Global Team Consulting.

The firm targeted Spanish speaking customers who were less familiar with mortgage guidelines, and convinced some of the victims to send mortgage payments to the company, instead of lenders.

Most of the victims lost their homes. Carlson could face more than 11 year in prison when she’s sentenced next month.
