Ventura County Men Arrested After Police Say They Used Scheme To Steal Expensive Clothing From Department Stores

Posted on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 5:18pm

You’ve heard the expression of shopping till you drop. Well, Ventura Police say they’ve arrested two men who shopped until they got caught.

Investigators say the two Oxnard men targeted Macy stores, taking expensive clothing items, and putting the items into bags before fleeing.

Security team members at the Macy’s in Pacific View Mall in Ventura say they witnessed Jesus Lopez, and Hector Gutierrez of Oxnard pack up bags of clothing Tuesday night.

As the men left the store, the Macy’s officers tried, but failed to intercept them. Ventura Police caught, and arrested the two men near the mall.

The investigators say the same two men used the same approach at the Macy’s in The Oaks Mall in Thousand Oaks, and were successful in stealing about $4,000 in clothing.
