A wide open State Senate seat on the South Coast which drew two political veterans didn’t turn out to be a close race. Former Assemblywoman Hanna Beth Jackson defeated former Santa Barbara County Supervisor Mike Stoker for the 19th District State Senate seat.
Jackson, who’s a Democrat, beat Stoker, who’s a Republican, by a 55% to 45% margin for the seat which represents much of Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties.
In the 27th District State Senate Race, Democratic incumbent Fran Pavely defeated Republican challenger Todd Zink by a 53% to 47% margin.
