The passage of Proposition 30 is less than 24 hours old, but it’s apparently already having a big impact on the Cal State University system, and Cal State Channel Islands.
CSUCI officials say passage of the state tax measure means the university system won’t be hit with a $250 million dollar mid year funding cut.
Tuition this academic year will revert to the same amount as in the 2011-2012 year, which was about $5400 for a full time student.
Eligible students will receive tuition refunds of up to $249 per semester, with the actual amount dependent on factors like the number of classes taken by the student, financial aid, and pending balances due.
Cal State officials say despite the new financial support, the university system is still receiving about a billion dollars less in financial support than it did four years ago.
