Firefighters Have Upper Hand On Brush Fire Which Caused Scare In Montecito

Posted on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 5:05pm

Firefighters are working to mop up a brush fire which caused a big scare this afternoon in the foothills above Montecito.

The fire was discovered just after 12 noon near the top of Cold Springs Trail. The Montecito Fire Department ordered evacuations in some neighborhoods east of Cold Springs, and west of Park Lane, but just after 2:30, all evacuations were cancelled. No structures were damaged.

Firefighters used helicopters, and air tankers to slow the fire, and were helped by the lack of wind in the area.

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department’s David Sadecki says firefighters from several agencies working together were able to contain the blaze to three acres.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
