A Santa Barbara County based relief agency helped parts of the East Coast prepare for Hurricane Sandy long before it ever reached the region.
For the last few years, Direct Relief International has been pre-positioning hurricane relief kits at medical clinics, filled with supplies and equipment. DRI President, and Chief Executive Officer Thomas Tighe says that so far, they haven’t received requests for additional supplies.
But, he says manufacturers have offered to help, and FedEx says it’s ready to ship supplies to hard hit areas at no cost. DRI is a non-profit agency which ships medical equipment, and supplies to disaster zones, and people in need around the world.
