Ventura firefighters say a warming fire used by the homeless started an early morning brush fire in the city’s Santa Clara Rivver bottom area.
The fire was discovered just after two this morning. Because of the remote area, the fire was difficult to fight, because crews had to lay long sections of hose line to reach the scene. Some three dozen firefighters were able to contain the fire to around a half acre of brush.
No one was hurt, and no structures were damaged. Ventura Fire, and police investigators are trying to determine was was responsible for the fire which triggered the blaze.
