Santa Barbara County is beefing up its ability to respond to brush fires today, because of the gusty wind conditions hitting the region.
At the County Fire Department’s request, the state fire agency CALFIRE is staging five engines in Carpinteria, as well as four hand crews. The County Fire Department is also calling in additional firefighters as a precaution.
High wind conditions are in the forecast until Saturday morning. Some of the strongest wind is expected to be in the Ventura and Los Angeles County mountains tonight, but we could see strong wind at times in Santa Barbara County, in the Santa Ynez Mountains, and in the foothills above Montecito.
