Damaged Surfboard Of Man Killed By Great White Shark Off Santa Barbara County Coastline (Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department Photo)
Experts say a fatal attack on a surfer in Santa Barbara County this week was the result of a 15 to 16 foot long Great White Shark.
Francisco Javier Solorio Junior was attacked when he was surfing Tuesday morning, near Surf Beach, outside of Lompoc. The 39 year old Orcutt man was surfing with a friend. The friend pulled Solorio from the water, and started CPR on the victim, but Solorio died at the scene. He had been bitten by the shark in the upper torso area.
It’s the same vicinity where a UCSB student died in a fatal shark attack two years ago. It was October 22nd, 2010 when Lucas Ransom was also fatally injured by a Great White in the Surf Beach area.
