Ventura County based biotech giant Amgen is partnering up with another company to create a spinoff firm.
Amgen is linking up with Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, also known as KPCB to form Atara Biotherapeutics. In a press release,
Amgen officials say the new company will focus on potential treatments for patients with chronic diseases.
The company will be able to use licenses to six Amgen assets in various stages of development, while KPCB will provide initial funding for the firm.
