The U.S. Forest Service is now saying that a downed power line caused a brushfire in Santa Barbara County which threatened about 100 homes, but was stopped before it could destroy, or damage any of them.
The Lookout Fire started just before 8 a.m. Wednesday on San Marcos Pass, near the Painted Cave area.
More than 300 firefighters, aided by helicopters and air tankers were able to prevent the fire from spreading from some rugged canyon areas, to homes.
The 44 acre fire was contained early Thursday evening. One firefighter suffered a minor leg injury.
