Ventura County Man Convicted Of Murdering Friend Over Drug Money

Posted on Thursday, October 18, 2012 10:20am

A Ventura County man has been convicted of first degree murder for killing a friend, in what prosecutors say a plan to steal thousands of dollars in drug money.

Victor Chavira shot Albino Ramirez to death in front of his wife, and four year old son. Investigators say the August, 2008 killing in Camarillo was motivated by the Oxnard man’s plan to steal money the victim was planning to use to buy methamphetamine.

He could be sentenced to life in prison, without the possibility of parole when he’s sentenced in November.
