A Ventura man who police say robbed a liquor store at knifepoint is now behind bars, after a car chase, and then being captured by a K-9 dog.

Investigators say John Lopez entered the store on the 10200 block of Telephone Road around 3 p.m. yesterday.

They say he brandished a knife, and after a brief struggle with a clerk, escaped with some cash.

Police responding to the scene saw the 32 year old Ventura man trying to speed away from the scene. He stopped his car, but officer say he refused to surrender until a K-9 dog helped get him under control. Lopez was treated at a hospital for minor injuries coming from the struggle, and then booked for robbery.
