Oxnard Police are now saying that one of the two men shot to death during a weekend confrontation was a jogger who just happened to be in the wrong place, at the wrong time.
Alfonso Limon was out running with his brother when a car involved in a pursuit stopped on the 100 block of North Garfield Avenue just after ten p.m. Saturday night. Two men jumped out of the car, and there was a gun battle. One of the men from the car, Jose Zepeda, was shot to death, and a second of the three men who were in the car was slightly wounded. No police officers were hurt.
It’s unclear who fired the shots which killed the jogger. Oxnard Police are planning to release more details of the shooting later today.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, and the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office are conducting independent investigations of the shooting.
