Ventura County schools did better than the statewide average when it comes to the latest round of target academic performance.
53% of California’s schools were at or above the goal of the Academic Performance Index number of 800, which is up 4% from last year.
56% of Ventura County schools topped the target API score.
Ventura County schools officials say they’ve have shown a median growth of 83 points on the API index since 2000.
However, more than 40% of the county’s schools still failed to meet tougher federal guidelines.
Santa Barbara County schools officials haven’t released statistics yet on how they fared as a group.
