Authorities are trying to figure out the circumstances behind a bizarre rescue in Ventura Harbor, in which a man in the water called for help, but then hid from rescuers.
It started just after two this morning, when Ventura firefighters, the Harbor Patrol, Ventura Police and other agencies received reports of a man in the water at the harbor, calling for help.
17 rescue personal were deployed, and started a search, but couldn’t find the man. Some 45 minutes later, a 43 year old man was discovered in the water, hiding under a dock. He was taken to the Ventura County Medical Center for treatment of hypothermia. Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the man being in the water.
