A marijuana grove with an estimated three million dollars worth of plants has been discovered near a college campus in Ventura County.
Ventura County Sheriff’s detectives received a tip about the massive garden, which was on private land northeast of Moorpark College. The owners of the property were unaware of the plants, which were in a canyon area. Investigators say there was no one there when they arrived. It was a sophisticated operation, with an irrigation system, plus hundreds of pounds of fertilizer for the 3,000 plants.
The suspects had used irrigation pipe to divert water from a spring hundreds of feet away to the marijuana plants.
