A teenager has been arrested, and charged with arson following a string of arson fires near a trailhead in eastern Ventura County.
Four fires were set near a trailhead at Moorpark Road, and Greenmeadow Avenue last week. There was a blaze on Tuesday there which was quickly put out, then two on Thursday which burned themselves out before firefighters reached the scene. On Friday, there was a fourth blaze in the same area, which was also quickly extinguished. However, this time, the Ventura County Fire Department, and Ventura County Sheriff’s Department had set up surveillance in the area.
They stopped a 13 year old boy who was riding a bike away from the scene of the fire, and they say he admitted to starting the fires. He was arrested, and released to his family. None of the fires caused serious damage.
