A routine DUI checkpoint in Ventura over the week led to the arrest of a man suspected in nine separate thefts.
Ventura Police were conducting a checkpoint near Thompson Boulevard, and Sanjon Road Friday night when a motorcycle officer noticed Brian Kruft Junior was riding a rare, and expensive mountain bike matching the description of one stolen recently.
The officer started to approach the 18-year-old, and cut him off as he tried to flee. Investigators think Kruft was responsible for five thefts, and four auto burglaries in the Pierpont area last month.
