Number Of Human West Nile Virus Cases In Ventura County Surges

A flu-like illness transmitted by mosquitoes which is harmless to most people, but can potentially be serious or fatal to some is surging in the United States.

The Centers for Disease Control is reporting the highest number of human cases of West Nile Virus ever recorded in the U.S.

Officials say a mild winter that’s helped create ideal breeding conditions for mosquitoes fueled the problem.

KCLU News has learned the number of human cases confirmed in Ventura County has grown in recent days.
